Roadkilltoad.com is the site that hosts this blog. Duh. It’s also where I host my music, artwork, and (when I get around to sorting through 10,000 pics) my photography.
So where the hell did the name “roadkilltoad” come from? I know you want to know. You know you want to know.
I’m going to tell you anyway, so sit down and be quiet.
Roadkilltoad is an old in-joke — mostly just with me. When I was very little, my mom called me her little “frog baby”. Yeah, that’s what I think, too. Anyway, one day in the midst of yet another personal crisis/debacle/implosion/mess I remarked that I felt less like a frogbaby than a roadkill’d toad. That image kind of stuck in my head. Yeah. Ew.
Forward a little further down the line, when I started into electronic music, I slapped a label of “roadkill toad recordings” on everything I did.
Even further down the road, when I was seeking to start a new website, I was still coming out of the flaming wreckage of a certain situation. The roadkill toad image came again to mind. And I figured that instead of just laying down and being run over yet again, I’d take ownership of it and make it mine.
So yeah. That’s Rocket the Frog (Rocket = rkt = roadkilltoad). Always under threat of The Wheel, and always escaping by the skin of his flippers. And that’s me, too.
So there you go. Now you know.
