The rollover.

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

My old 1989 Chevy Caprice wagon finally hit the 200,000 km mark. Here’s the proof.
We’re going out tonight to get drunk on her favourite 5W30 and celebrate.

Yesterday the ‘rents and the Kidz headed out in the motorhome for a week’s getaway. The kids will be dropped off at my Dad’s place, and the motorhomers will be off to some RV park, somewhere. Me, I’m in charge of looking after my folks’ house and their cats while everyone is away.

Put on some AC/DC. Background noise. Thinking noise. Commence rambling.
Jailbreak
Yes, it’s all about ennui. It’s about what I call The Slog. The need to write, the need to be heard, the need to be seen — and the discouragement that comes when you feel you’re not accomplishing any of those things. That feeling that [...]

Oh for crying out loud…

So I’m thinking of ending the experiment that has been the roadkill toad blog.
Admittedly, I’m getting lots of hits at the RKT blog, but most of them have been brief, looking for things like lyrics or “white stuff on my toenail” (wtf?), and none of them has stayed around to become a new regular [...]

Can we be vague?

So my mind is starting to get back to its writerly mode again, after a break of a month or more.

Diagnosis: costochondritis, as was suggested. Inflammation of the muscles/tendons between the 4th to 6th ribs, for those who don’t speak Doctor.
So I’ve got me a prescription for Celebrex, as [...]

I hate managing money. I hate it. Hate it hate it hate it.
That is all.

James’s Rib.

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

I think I’m going to have to pay my doctor a visit regarding my ribs. The pain’s gotten worse. As well, it’s spread from one sharp point to a fiery line along one particular rib. Then there are the wonderful lancing pains that I get when I breathe, stretch, laugh, sneeze, or [...]

Call this “Why I Hate Star Trek”. Many moons ago… I watched the first couple of seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. But I got really bored with its repetitive plots (i.e. “Data Saves The Day”). I wrote this little tribute ten years ago as a prime example of why I [...]

Ch-ch-ch-changes.

So I just got back from having my hair hacked off. No more long hair for a while, I think. Or at least it’ll be a while until it grows out again. It was just getting too long (and hot and sweaty) for the summer.
So I’ve gone from this:

…to this:

Sort of.
Boy, how exciting [...]
